Two comfortable semi-detached holiday homes on waterfront with great harbour views. Large garden with patio area. Relaxing Summer getaway.House is well equipped to accommodate up to 5 people. It is a five minute scenic walk to the village, shops, pubs and restaurants.Baltimore is a picturesque lively village . It's population soars during the Summer time. With it's sailing club and two sailing schools as well as two diving schools, it is renowned as a water sports centre. Private boat hire facilities are available at the pier. Swimming pool in village. (see - baltimore.ie)Baltimore is the main point of departure for ferries to the unique Carbery Islands. Ferries leave several times daily to Cape Clear and Sherkin island with its two lovely sandy beaches. Ferry time to Sherkin - 10 min. - beach 15 min walk. Ferry trips to Fastnet lighthouse with dolphin watching. Sea swimming 2 minutes from house. Dogs by request (low season).Review: The house was even better than we anticipated, very comfortable, well maintained and equipped. Great lounge, very well equipped kitchen, excellent dining room all made our stay very enjoyable. Nice touches are the wide selection of books, CD's, binoculars to watch the seals, herons and other wildlife found just over the hedge in the Cove. Furniture and fittings are of super quality, the open fire excellent. The owner went out of her way to ensure our stay went as smoothly as possible providing service over and above our expectations. Fantastic Irish hospitality! Baltimore is an excellent holiday location whether you want an 'all action' holiday sailing, diving, powerboating, walking, visiting the islands or if you want to just 'veg' and watch the world go by enjoying a steaming bowl of chowder or crab sandwich and a pint of the 'black stuff' sitting on one of the barrels outside Bushes Bar in the square just a short walk up the road. The square is just 5 mins away from the house but I recommend you allow much more time though because you will soon find yourself pausing to take in the fabulous views, watch the boats in the harbour or the ferries scurrying betwen the islands or chat to the many friendly people you meet on the way who are always happy to spend a while chatting or sharing a joke. Although you do not need to venture away from Baltimore and could happily leave the car 'at home' during your stay there are many great places to enjoy a meal or a pint. We have many 'favourite places to eat and visit' but there are so many excellent places mentioned in the visitors book at the house you will have to come back many times just to enjoy them all. We also ventured up to Killarney this time via Bantry. The trip over the Caha Mountains and the switchback drive down through the Killarney National Park from Kenmare are something else, but make sure you stop at the shop at Molls Gap, the view from the restaurant is amazing and the cream cakes something else! My wife and I have and will continue to recommend this house to friends, family and anyone reading this review. It's location on The Cove, a short walk from the village square ensures a peaceful holiday in one of the best places in Ireland.Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
